“Einer meiner besten Tage in Deutschland war mein erster Tag auf der Arbeit. Alle waren so freundlich und hilfsbereit. Ich hatte wirklich den Eindruck, dass sie sich gefreut haben, jemand Neues kennen zu lernen. In Italien haben wir das Vorurteil, dass Deutsche sehr kalt und auf Regeln fixiert sind. Aber das finde ich eigentlich überhaupt nicht. Ich bin Doktorandin und vielleicht liegt es an meinem Universitätsumfeld, dass die Leute so offen und interessiert sind. Aber es ist toll. Ich denke nicht, dass ich die Möglichkeit haben werde, zurück nach Italien zu gehen. Ich würde gern Akademikerin bleiben und ich hoffe, damit in Deutschland Erfolg zu haben.”
“One of my best days in Germany was my first day at work. Everybody was so friendly, they offered their help for everything and they seemed really happy to meet someone new. In Italy, we have the stereotype that Germans are really cold and very fixated on rules. But I don’t find that to be true at all. I’m a PhD student, so maybe it’s the university environment that makes people so open-minded and interested. It’s great. I don’t think I will have the possibility to go back to Italy. I would like to stay in academia, and I hope to succeed with that in Germany.”
